Week 2 – 365 of 2017 – Nelson

Week 2 of this year was spent heading looking after my husband as he recovered from surgery and packing to head away on a pre-planned holiday to Nelson with our daughter for some school holiday fun.
I did repeatedly ask my husband if he wanted me to try to change the flights but he was adamant we go and have a break, so we headed off to Nelson to stay with our friends on their Wakefield farm. They have a vast array of poultry – birds – that they breed, and they also home-school their 4 children.

The plan was to stay in a tent, but after 2 nights of the constant, relentless wind, and another 2 nights cramped in with them in their tiny cabin (a whole other story, for a whole other day), we rented a cabin at the Kiwi Holiday Park at Tahuna Beach for the remainder of our stay. Nelson is a place that I love with all my heart, and hope one day to move there to live permanently. My husband, Tim’s, family are from there and when he last came down with us he showed us 4 generations in the one cemetery – which I think is pretty special.
